Friday the 27th April saw our club come together with the Ducati owners club to get our first taste of on track action at South Australia’s newest and best Road racing circuit, The Bend.

For those of us that hadn’t made it along to the ASBK round the weekend before, it was a real eye opener. For those that had, it was a chance to get out there and give it a go for ourselves. What we were met with as we drove down the main access road was an epic racing complex with garages, function centre, and hotel. We were expecting to run our track day on the 3.4km long west circuit which includes the pit lane. Ultimately due to licencing issues we ended up using the the 4.95km International circuit as used by the Superbikes the weekend before. A daunting task for some more used to short circuits. With 17 long sweeping bends and tight turns it certainly took some getting use to.

The day ran very smoothly with few incidents. Most being due to breakdowns. No doubt the procedures and systems put in place by The Bend management helped, along with a top effort by our race secretary Danny Ahern and a fantastic group of helpers.

A big thank you goes out to the Ducati owners club for sharing a great day at the track.

With any luck we will back before too long for another fantastic track day and maybe even some proper racing!!
