We all enjoyed a fantastic weekend of racing here in Adelaide. Thursday saw many competitors take to the track in preparation for qualifying and racing, this was a chance for interstate competitors who had never ridden the track before to find their bearings and those who havnt ridden the track for several years to get reacquainted, myself included.

There are two types of weather you can expect at Mallala, hot or windy, and we got both! Friday was unseasonably hot, with the mercury rising to 37°C and no shade to speak of. Don’t get me started on the flies! When racers finally hit the track for qualifying, it wasn’t long before the riders literally hit the track with several riders falling at the Northern hairpin, Southern Hiarpin, turn 2, and turn 7. One of the disappointing casualties was TT star Cam Donald on his XR69 Heron Suzuki.

Saturday and Sunday saw some exciting racing, riders swapped rubber and paintwork as they fought for victory. Several accidents only slowed proceedings marginally, allowing organisers to keep on track with 26 events each day. Lap records were smashed in the P5 unlimited class, local rider Nathaniel Wilson took on the P5 250 & 350cc class on his Mal Pitman prepared RD250LC and blew just about everyone away with Lachlan Hill, club member Wayne Higgins, and Terry Morris being the only riders to stay ahead of him in the 350 race.

Check out all the results here.

From here we look forward to the State championships at Mac Park on the 2/3 of January.
